The Life Cycle of a Butterfly including baking and clay work!

Our topic this half term is 'Life Cycles'. In Art the children have created a display showing the life cycle of a butterfly. We did sewing on leaves and added the butterfly eggs. Reception then hand printed some caterpillars, while Year 1 and Year 2 children designed and made their own caterpillars using anything they could find in our art trolley. We collaged brown parcel paper to build a cocoon. Finally we coloured and folded bright paper and used pipe cleaners to make our beautiful butterflies.

We are enjoying this topic on butterflies so much that we have also done some baking and made some butterfly cupcakes! Yesterday we spent an afternoon making some clay butterflies, they were so successful and the children cannot wait to paint them!
