This week Oaks class took the nets and trays up to our school pond to go pond dipping. The children were very sensible and followed all the rules to stay safe by the water. They caught lots of creatures. We identified ramshorn snails, water snails, frogspawn (including some empy frogspawn jelly!) and some very small tadpoles.
The tadpoles weren't moving very much, but when they were in the trays they began to wiggle away. We think this was because the water was so cold. The children can't wait to go again in a few weeks when the weather gets warmer, to see how the tadpoles have grown and changed!
I wonder if we will find any other creatures later on this term?
