World Book Day 2017

As a special World Book Day focus, on Tuesday 28th February 2017, Steven Smallman spent the day with us sharing his books and showing with us how he illustrates them. The children had the opportunity to work with him throughout the day. All our parents were also invited to share in the experience too.

Steven Smallman has illustrated literally hundreds of books, predominantly in educational publishing. He has worked in children's television, specifically in character development and most notably in the 'Raggy Doll' series in the mid to late 1980's. He has also done a certain amount of licensed work, illustrating characters such as Postman Pat, Bill and Ben and Sesame Street. He has been described as an 'Animal Artist', because he loves to draw animals and especially likes to give them human characteristics.

He has been writing children's books for about 15 years now and has had about 60 published so far with another 10 or so coming out soon.

We had a fantastic day and he inspired us all to be more imaginative.
