Dr Jean Peters “I have lived in Tansley for nearly 19 years and became a School Governor for Tansley school ten years ago, when I retired from full time work. In my past I have taught in both nursery and secondary schools but most of my employment has been in the University sector as a lecturer and researcher in Public Health.”
Mr John Rigarlsford “I am a Microbiologist and worked for over 38 years for a major industrial Company, advising on good hygiene practice both in the UK and internationally. In addition, I frequently gave, and still give, presentations at Universities and numerous symposia; and I represent the UK on a European Standards Committee. I took early retirement in 2003 to set up a Limited Company offering hygiene consultancy. My wife and I moved to Tansley in 1999 and have taken active roles in village activities. I became Churchwarden in 2004 and a School Governor of Tansley School in 2006.”
Mrs Christine Middleton “I moved to Tansley from Leicester in 2012. I am really enjoying both living in the village and having access to such lovely countryside. I have spent most of my life working in health and social care as a social worker and then as a team manager. Prior to my retirement in 2012 I have been working in the voluntary sector for four years. I have been a governor at Tansley Primary school since 2012, initially as a local authority governor and now as a co-opted governor. I recognise the importance of a successful primary school in the village and I am committed to the aims and values of Tansley Primary School.
Mr Elliott Richards (Vice Chair of Governors) I moved to Tansley in 2015 with my wife Adelle and two daughters. The village caught our imagination as a great place to live, and I am pleased to say that it has not disappointed. Both Evlynn and Vesper now attend our village school and are thriving in the happy and safe environment the school provides. I have become a Governor as I am keen to help and support the school to ensure its continued success. My career has been exclusively focused within the leisure industry, undertaking both operational and safety roles.

Mr Dave Hill
I grew up in Tansley, out of the village near the garden centre, and attended our school until I was eleven years old. Having moved away from the area to start my working life, I run my own business within the pharmaceutical industry, I returned to Tansley in 2010 with my wife, Jo and three children. Charlotte and Evelyn both attend the school and Finley was part of the school before he went to Secondary school. I became a governor at the start of the 2011 academic year as I wanted to try and make a difference and give something back to the school which gave me so much.

Local Education Authority Governor (appointed by the Governing Body)
|
|||||||||||||
Angela Colmar (Chair of Governors)
I have lived in the village for 21 years and my 3 (grown up) children all went to the village school and had a brilliant start to their education. During my career I have worked as a speech therapist, special needs teacher, Early years teacher and finally as a Headteacher. I currently work for the Local Authority School Improvement Team as an adviser. I feel very fortunate to live in such a strong community with a village school at the heart. As a governor I would like to support the school to continue to provide high quality inclusive education for the children of Tansley and local areas.

Non-Teaching Staff Governor (appointed by the Governing Body)
Mrs Helen Pearson (Teaching Assistant) “I have worked at Tansley Primary for 8 years as a teaching assistant with our reception and Year 1 pupils. I really enjoy my job. There is a real sense of belonging and a friendly atmosphere within school. Both my children attended Tansley Primary and I know that the school provided them with a good education.”
Mrs S Barker (Headteacher) I have been the Headteacher of Tansley Primary School since January 2019. I am looking forward to seeing the children grow and learn during their time at the school and what they will each achieve as individuals. I aim to give the children as many different learning experiences as possible and build friendships and skills that both create memories and build toward their future. It is fantastic to have all the stakeholders working and moving forward together to be the best we can be.
