National Curriculum for Physical Education
Purpose of Study
A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

The School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels. We are very pleased to announce that Tansley Primary School has achieved the Silver Award in recognition for the opportunities that the children have been engaged in throughout 2015/16.
