First Taste is an education arts charity that run Intergenerational projects to improve and enrich the lives of elderly people and give children an insight into the problems of older people and, with the help of tutors, pass on their enthusiasm and knowledge to the residents.
Our children embarked on a gardening project with the residents of the local nursing home Tansley House in Spring 2016 and finished their project with a celebratory event on the 2nd December 2016. The children and residents were able to share their project with the guests at the event and the children received certificates for all their work that they had undertaken.
The children had a stall, selling the lavender bags and soap they had made with the residents and plants that they had grown throughout the project. This raised £33.80 towards a further project VOYAGE (Valuing of Youth and Age) that we hope to embark upon soon.
Well done to everyone involved.
